PURPOSE:To enable the period of time required for starting recording to be shortened and prevent a recording head from being overheated during recording, by a simple construction wherein a highly heat-conductive member to be brought into contact with and separated from a recording head is fitted to a head support frame, and is brought into contact with or separated from the recording head according to the temperature of the head. CONSTITUTION:A head support frame 7 can be moved upward and downward, and a highly heat-conductive member 10 to be brought into contact with and separated from heat sinks 8A-8D for recording heads 6A-6D is fitted to the frame 7. The heat-conductive member 10 is connected to movable parts of two solenoids 12, 12 provided on the frame 7, and compression springs 13, 13 are fitted respectively between the solenoids and the heat-conductive member. With the solenoids 12, 12 excited, the heat-conductive member 10 is driven downward against the springs 13, 13, whereby the member 10 is separated from the heat sinks 8A-8D. When heating the recording heads 6A-6D being cold to a temperature suitable for recording by a heater or the like in starting the recording, the heat-conductive member 19 is separated from the heat sinks to cause a reduction in heat capacity, whereby the period of time required for starting the recording can be shortened. |
