Compounds useful as a reagent for detecting influenza virus and represented by general formula (I), wherein m is an integer of 2 to 15; n is an integer of 0 to 12; R represents a sugar chain or a derivative thereof; R' represents a group represented by general formula (II), (wherein p is an integer of 0 to 4; q is an integer of 0 to 5; r is an integer of 2 to 5; and R<12> and R<13> may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, aliphatic acyl, nitro or cyano); R<1> represents hydrogen or a carboxyl protective group; R<2>, R<4> and R<5> may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen, aliphatic acyl or aromatic acyl; and R<3> represents acetyl, glycolyl or trifluoroacetyl.
