PURPOSE:To prevent the leak of the water on the periphery of a propeller shaft into a hull by sealing the edge surface by press-attaching a face insert onto the free edge part of a seat, permitting the press-attaching sliding. CONSTITUTION:A face insert 8 consists of a lubricating short cylinder form larger than the diameter of a propeller shaft 6, and one edge surface side is integrally fixed through backing onto the peripheral groove 7a formed on the edge surface of the large diameter part of a sealing body 7, and the other slidable edge surface is press-attached onto an edge surface member 13 installed onto the edge surface of a seat 9 by a surface pressure. Further, the seat 9 is inserted into a propeller shaft 6 installed between a bearing part 3 and the surface insert 8 so as to be formed concentric to a propeller shaft insertion hole 14. Further, an operating tool 10 for permitting the pressurizing operation and a seat ring 11 which is made of elastic material and whose diameter is varied in the contraction direction through a fluidic material 18 only in pressurization are installed onto the seat 9.
