PURPOSE:To apply multi-value processing to a reproducing picture data at each color by means of a common threshold value or threshold value group by providing a conversion means converting a luminance information data depending on a prescribed function and outputting a reproducing picture data having nearly the same density as that at each color from a reproducing picture data output section. CONSTITUTION:When a red picture and a cyan picture have nearly the same reflection density, a luminance information data VR+VC obtained from the red picture tends to be larger than a cyan picture data VR+VC. A function shown in figure is set to exclude the tendency. A reproducing picture data having nearly the same density as the red and cyan picture having nearly the same reflection density is outputted from a memory 17. A threshold value circuit 22' outputs a common threshold value or threshold value group to the reproducing picture data of each color to a comparision circuit 21, where the picture data is subject to multi-value processing.
