PURPOSE:To automatically check whether a correct ROM is mounted or not by providing a ROM erroneous mounting signal output means which outputs the discrimination result of a comparing and discriminating means. CONSTITUTION:An input/output device 1 is provided with a comparing and discriminating means 21 which compares a reference mark with a mark read out from a ROM to discriminate whether they coincide with each other or not. The mark corresponding to contents stored in the mounted ROM is written in a preliminarily determined specific storage area of the ROM. This written mark is read out from the specific storage area of the mounted ROM, and the reference mark is read out from a reference mark storage means 41 of a numerical controller. They are compared with each other to discriminate whether they coincide with each other or not; and if they do not coincide, a signal indicating erroneous mounting of the ROM is outputted.
