PURPOSE:To improve greatly the convenience with each user by producing a latest dictionary for users from both a revision dictionary and a user dictionary which are updated independently with each other. CONSTITUTION:A comparison part 4.1 compares the headwords with each other and sends the headword registered first and its corresponding KANJI (Chinese characters) item to a writing means 5 when no coincidence is obtained between those headwords. If the headword registered first is contained in a revision disctionary, the headword is written to a latest dictionary 2.3 via a writing part 5.1 and the reading of the next headword is triggered to a revision dictionary reading part 3.1. In case the headword registered first is contained in a user dictionary, this word is written to the dictionary 2.3 via a writing part 5.2 and the reading of the next headword is triggered to a user dictionary reading part 3.2. When the coincidence is secured between the headwords at the part 4.1, an item synthesizing part 4.2 synthesizes all KANJI items of both headwords registered to the same headword to cover all KANJI items. The a writing part 5.3 writes these KANJI items to the dictionary 2.3 and the reading is triggered to both parts 3.1 and 3.2.
