<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively using a device and improving the whole performance of a RAID(redundant arrays of inexpensive disks) sub-system. SOLUTION: The device has the disk arrays constituted of multiple data disk drives S1-S4 where data are dispersively recorded, PR and SP such as the RAID sub-system. The standby disk drive SP for the trouble time of the data disk drive and the parity disk drive PR for parity data recording are provided. The disk drives S1-S4, PR and SP in the disk array are divided into high-order blocks 50A, 52A, 54A, 56A, 58A and 60A and low-order blocks 50B, 52B, 54B, 56B, 58B and 60B at the time of initialization. The disk drives except for the standby disk drive SP are divided into two small parity groups 30 and 40.</p> |
