PURPOSE:To ensure a sufficient amount of air in an air bag during inflation, by providing a discharge port at a position which will be on the inner side of a steering wheel and be not closed by a cover during inflation. CONSTITUTION:An air bag device 1 is composed of a gas generator supported by a retainer 2, an air bag 6 attached at its gas suction port to the retainer 2, and a cover 7 for storing the afore-mentioned components. An air discharge port 61 for discharging air after inflation is formed in the air bag 6. This air discharge port 61 is located at a position which is on the inner side of a steering wheel A and on the outer side of cover pieces 72, 73 when they expand. With this arrangement, the discharge port 61 is prevented from being deformed by a passenger who impinges upon the air bag 6 on inflation and from being closed by the cover pieces 72, 73 upon bumping of a vehicle, thereby it is possible to ensure a sufficient amount of discharge air. |
