PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store MIP maps of more than one level consistently by allocating continuous memory quantities on the basis of the level number and size of an MIP map of text data and storing data on the MIP map in successive memory locations according to an offset value. SOLUTION: When there is a memory which is able to store all texel data in a single memory block (block 14) and it is judged that the sufficient memory can be allocated (block 20), a base map is stored (block 24). Then a flag is set to 0 (block 26) and when level information is OK (block 28), the MIP map is concerned in the base map (block 32), and the flag is set to 1 (block 34), base level information and a pointer to the existing memory are stored (blocks 50 and 40); and the size of the continuous memory is calculated (block 42) and the continuous memory is allocated (block 44). |
