摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the division processing speed and to simplify the constitution of a division device by approximating an intermediate divisor to the prescribed value and also approximating an intermediate quotient to the quotient that is obtained by dividing a dividend by a divisor. SOLUTION: A dividend 'bi' and and a divisor 'ai' are inputted and multiplied by a 1st multiplier 3 that is generated based on the divisor 'ai', so that the 1st intermediate divisor 'ci' and an intermediate quotient 'di' are obtained. Then the divisor 'ci' and the quotient 'di' are multiplied by a 2nd multiplier 10 generated based on the divisor 'ci', so that a 2nd intermediate divisor 'ei' and a 2nd intermediate quotient 'fi' are obtained. For this purpose, the operations are repeated in the necessary frequency based on the arithmetic result of the preceding stage. Thus, the divisor 'ei' is approximated to the prescribed value and also the quotient 'fi' is approximated to the quotient that is obtained by dividing the dividend 'bi' by the divisor 'ai'. In such cases, the number of bits of both multipliers 3 and 10 are set smaller than the number of bits of the divisors 'ai', 'ci' and 'ei'.
