PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fibrous structural product having high antimicrobial effect and having practically sufficient mechanical strength, comprising cotton and elastic fiber and containing specific weight proportions of colloidal free sulfur. SOLUTION: First, sulfur is dissolved in an aqueous sodium sulfide solution and the resultant solution is added to viscose followed by conducting a spinning to form colloidal free sulfur-contg. viscose rayon, which is then cut, blended with cotton, and spun into blended yarn. Next, using the blended yarns and chlorine-resistant elastic yarns, a circular knitted fabric with coarse texture comprising 20-98wt.% (pref. 40-90wt.%, more pref. 60-80wt.%) of the cotton and 2-30 (pref. 5-10)wt.% of the elastic yarn. Subsequently, the knitted fabric is scoured and bleached to obtain the objective antimicrobial circular knitted fabric <=300ppm in residual chlorine content and 0.01-10 (pref. 0.03-5)wt.% in colloidal free sulfur content. |
