PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for successively producing an α-olefin oligomer in a high catalyst efficiency, high yield and high selectivity by supplying a specific chromic catalyst so that the concentration of the chromium in a reaction zone may be within a specified range. SOLUTION: In this method for producing an α-olefin oligomer, (B) α-olefin in successively polymerized by successively charging (A) a chromic catalyst, which is a combination of a chromium compound (e.g. an alkoxy salt, a carboxyl salt, a halogenized material of chromium) (A1 ), a compound containing nitrogen such as an amine, an amide or an imide [e.g. a primary or a secondary amine, a compound of formula I (M<1> H, a metal of groups I, II, XI or XIII in the periodic table; R<1> is H, a 1-30C alkyl, etc.; R<2> is the R<1> , etc.)] (A2 ), an alkylaluminum compound (A3 ) and a compound containing a halogen e.g. a compound of formula II [X<1> to X<8> are each H or a halogen, with the proviso that three or more of X<1> to X<5> are the halogen; (r) is 0-8]} (A4 ), so that the chromium concentration in the reaction zone may be maintained to <=1ppm. |
