PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new DNA sequence having a continuous sequence of amino acid having a specific number, coding a specific polypeptide capable of being bound by an antibody to C-type hepatitis virus and useful as a diagnostic, etc., for detecting non-A and non-B type hepatitis virus(NANBV). SOLUTION: This new DNA sequence codes a polypeptide containing at least 8 continued sequences and the at least 8 continued sequences have at least one part and the part can be bound by an antibody to C-type hepatitis virus(HCV) in a sequence comprising a continued sequence of at least 8 amino acid or in the polypeptide and the at least 8 amino acid continued sequence is obtained from an amino acid sequence represented by the formula. The DNA sequence is useful as a diagnostic, etc., for detecting non-A, non-B type hepatitis virus. The sequence is obtained from DNA selected by screening cDNA library of HCV with a probe comprising a part of the cDNA. |
