PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indirect hot air generator having high efficiency of recovering thermal energy with a small size. SOLUTION: The indirect hot air generator comprises a furnace body 10, a combustion chamber 2 provided in the body 10, a plate fin heat exchanger 3 provided at the chamber 21, and a regenerative burner 41 having a combustor for injecting a flame 40 to the chamber 21 and a regenerator. The exchanger 3 has a gas-to-be-heated passage 31 for passing gas 81 to be heated and a combustion exhaust gas passage for passing combustion exhaust gas 82, and the both are disposed without communicating with one another.
