PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain a function that easily overlaps a communication available range of each infrared ray emitting/receiving module of the telephone set with respect to an opposite infrared ray terminal by fitting the infrared ray emitting/receiving module onto a handset. SOLUTION: An infrared ray emitting/receiving module 102 is buried in a grip in the middle of a handset 30 along its surface. In the case that the handset 30 is lifted up from a public telephone set 100 and placed on a terminal table 40 in opposition to an infrared ray data terminal 200, a communication available range R102 of the infrared ray emitting/receiving module 102 fitted to the handset 30 is overlapped with a communication available range R201 of the infrared ray emitting/receiving module 201 of the infrared ray data terminal 200. Then data are communicated between the infrared ray data terminal 200 and the public telephone set 100 and then the infrared ray data terminal 200 controls the public telephone set 100 and conducts stable communication or the like via the public telephone set 100.
