PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire stripper that is capable of accurately and quickly stripping the covering material from a wire, using an ordinary motor. SOLUTION: The wire stripper has a gripper 22, 22 that grips the covering material at an end of a covered wire in a predetermined length position and cutting edges 24, 24 that clamp the covering material at a position just behind the gripper. The cutting edges with covering material clamped between them is pulled, and the covering material is thereby stripped from a core. The wire stripper is also provided with a spindle 3 that is supported on a frame 1 in such a manner that the spindle can be slid forward and backward and enables the gripping operation of the gripper 22, 22 and the clamping and cutting operations of the cutting edges 24, 24. The spindle 3 is so designed that it revolves forward and backward by a reversible motor 7. A ball screw stem 10 is installed on the spindle 3, and a ball nut member 11 is fit onto the ball screw stem 10 with a ball in between. Thus the ball screw stem 10 is advanced from the ball nut member r11 by the forward revolution of the spindle 3, to cause the gripper 22, 22 and the cutting edges 24, 24 to close. After the advance of the spindle 3 is stopped, the ball nut member 11 recedes, to pull the cutting edges 24, 24. |
