METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MACHINING CHUCK OF SLENDER CYLINDRICAL PART MADE OF CERAMICS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately machine a slender cylindrical part made of ceramics on the basis of its center axis by holding the part at a low chuck pressure to correct its position and then increasing the chuck pressure to the chuck pressure required for machining. SOLUTION: A motor starting signal is sent to a chuck pressure control device 17 and an electrical signal is sent from the chuck pressure control device 17 to a timer 16 and the timer 6 starts to count time and a work to be machined is slid into a chuck head 4 during a predetermined time, whereby the center axis of a slender cylindrical part made of ceramics is aligned to the center of a chuck head. After such a setting time elapses, the passage of a pressure control valve 14 is closed and the passage of a pressure control valve 15 is opened to increase the chuck pressure via a flow control valve 12 and then the surface of this part is machined by a machining tool.
