PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the generation quantity of waste toner, to prevent the service life of an electrostatic charge device and developer from being shortened and to obtain stable image quality extending over a long term in an image forming device constituted so that a latent image on an image carrier is visualized by selectively attached toner and transferred on a recording material thereafter. SOLUTION: Around the image carrier 1, an electrostatic charger 2, image write device 4, developing device 5, transfer device 5, etc., and a fine-grain layer forming device 3 are disposed. Then the almost uniform fine-grain layer consisting of a powder body whose grain size is smaller than the toner is formed on the surface of the carrier 1. The charger 2 is provided with an endless and movable electrostatic charge electrode 11 in contact with the carrier 1 and the hydrophobed fine-grain layer consisting of the powder body is formed on the surface of the electrode 11. Then, fine grains on the carrier 1 are electrostatically changed to identical polarity to the toner so that attaching force between the carrier 1 and the fine grains is enhanced and the attaching force between the carrier 1 and a toner image formed on the fine-grain layer is reduced. Besides, the soil of the surface of the electrode 11 by the toner is evaded by the fine-grain layer of the electrode 11. |
