PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymeric micelle having very high stability and useful as a carrier for drugs by dispersing a specified block copolymer in an aqueous medium to form a polymeric micelle and then polymerizing the polymerizable groups in the copolymer. SOLUTION: A block copolymer represented by the formula HPLS-HPBS- PLZA [wherein HPLS is a hydrophilic polymer segment, preferably comprising polyethylene glycol; HPBS is a hydrophobic polymer segment, preferably comprising polylactide, polyglycoside, poly(butyrolactone), poly(valerolactone), polypropylene glycol or poly(α-amino acid); and PLZA is a polymerizable group having ethylenically unsaturated double bond(s)] (e.g. a copolymer of the formula) is dispersed in an aqueous medium to form a polymeric micelle, and the polymerizable groups are then polymerized in the state of the polymeric micelle.
