PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating agent useful for a readily slidable medical device, capable of providing the surface of a substrate with perpetual lubricating properties and low frictional properties in wetting with humors, etc., comprising a copolymer composition containing plural kinds of functional group-containing polymerizable monomers. SOLUTION: This coating agent comprises a copolymer composition composed of (A1 ) a (meth)acrylic acid, (A2 ) an ω-carboxy acrylate such as a compound of formula I, (A3 ) a (meth)acrylic acid derivative such as a compound of formula III ((n) is 7-9) and (A4 ) an isocyanate group-containing vinyl monomer such as 2 isocyanatoethyl methacrylate. The coating agent is used for effectively obtaining a readily slidable medical device such as a catheter by a method for dissolving the coating agent in a solvent, directly coating a substrate such as a medical device with the solution, heat-treating the coated material to remove the solvent and firmly bonding the copolymer composition to the substrate by high reactivity of isocyanate group, then treating the material with an alkali to develop lubricating properties on the coated film. |
