PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly safe pharmaceutical composition containing C- reactive protein effective to inhibition of pathopoiesis of hepatic failure, and treatment and/or mitigation of symptom at various stage of the hepatic failure by including C-reactive protein as an effective constituent. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition containing C-reactive protein is obtained by blending the C-protein having an amino acid sequence of 206 amino acid residues, existing in theβ-globulin fraction in the serum reactive to C-polysacchalides of the laminar film of Diplococcus pneumoniae with an optional carrier used in a usual medication such as a vehicle, a binder and an disintegrator, and forming the one into a medical form suitable for oral, transintestine or parenteral administration (including intravenous injection or an administration into cerebrospinal fluid). A suitable daily dose of the pharmaceutical composition for treating the hepatitis is 0.02-200mg/kg (body weight).
