PURPOSE:To enable confirmation of a layout and setting of parameters to be conducted simultaneously, by providing a layout change means, which changes upper margin/left margin parameters stored in a display control means after being set by an initialization means using a cursor shift key to change the layout, and a printing control means carrying out a printing control according to the changed parameters. CONSTITUTION:An initialization part 1 determines whether the type of a printing paper is vertical or horizontal according to an inputted display command and outputs printing parameters for a paper frame and outputs parameters for a character frame to be arranged within the paper frame. These parameters are stored in a display part 2. The display part 2 displays a paper frame 301, a character frame 302, and upper margin parameter and left margin parameter 303 on a display part 3 according to the stored parameters. A layout change part 4 conducts the change of the parameters in accordance with the pressing state of a cursor shift key. After the setting of margins is completed, a printing control part 5 takes-in the parameters according to the direction of the layout change part 4 and outputs printing information on a printer 6 together with the printing data.
