PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for printing a hydrophobic fiber material with a resist, capable of producing the resist-printed product excellent in heat- resistant fastness, etc., by dyeing or printing the hydrophobic fiber material with a disperse dyestuff, printing the dyed or printed fiber material with a printing paste containing a disperse dyestuff, a cationic dyeing auxiliary and a nonionic surfactant, and subsequently drying and heating the printed material. SOLUTION: This method for dyeing a hydrophobic material with a resist comprises immersing or printing the whole surface of a hydrophobic fiber material such as polyester fibers in or with a disperse dyestuff, printing the selected part of the surface of the dyed fiber material with a printing paste containing at least one kind of disperse dyestuff, at least one kind of nonionic detergent such as an ethylene oxide-added nonyl phenol and at least one kind of cationic dyeing auxiliary containing a quaternary ammonium salt such as a polydiallylammonium hydrochloride once or several times, drying the printed product and further thermally treating the dried product.
