PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water absorbing mat for plant growth capable of performing uniform water supply and water keeping to the entire mat and to provide a planter with improved operability of carrying in and out and handleability by using it. SOLUTION: Four this water absorbing mat for the plant growth, plural belt-like press-fixed work parts 5a for which permeability by a capillary phenomenon is improved are disposed to a mat main body composed of countless fibers and water is infiltrated to a water keeping part 5b left on the mat main body by the action of the excellent capillary phenomenon. Also, for this planter, the water absorbing mat for the plant growth is laid on the shelf plate 4 of a planter main body for which a water storage part 1 and a plant kind mounting part 2 are sectioned by the shelf plate 4 and the belt-like press-fixed work parts 5a are connected to the water storage part 1 by a water raising tape 6.
