PURPOSE:To reduce the load on a fixing device and to prolong its life by determining a selection of a paper feeding direction and the editing of information relatively so that a developing direction and the direction of bars of a bar code cross each other at right angles. CONSTITUTION:Bar code image information inputted from a host computer A, etc., is stored in a memory means B and a bar direction detecting means C reads the bar code image information out of the memory means B and checks the continuity of the image information in the developing direction, a direction perpendicular to the developing direction, and a lateral direction to detect which direction the part of the bars faces. Further, an image direction detecting means D checks the arrangement of the image information in the storage means B to detect whether the array is longitudinal or laterally long. Then when the bars are in the longitudinal direction, the array of the image information in the storage means is changed so that the bars are in the lateral direction. Consequently, the convergence of the load on the recording part of the bar code of a fixing roller is reduced to prolong the life. |
