PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a persistent current switching device and its operating method, enabling to make feasible of rapid switching, miniaturization of magnet, decrease in self inductance, materializing miniaturization of power supply required for excitation as well as at rated low voltage and cost. SOLUTION: A persistent current switching device is provided with a superconducting coil 21, a wire rod 19 for persistent current switch parallel- connected to the coil 21, a control magnet 26 arranged near the wire rod 19 for transposing the wire rod 19 from superconducting state to normal conductive state or vice versa by magnetizing or demagnetizing the wire rod 19. In such a constitution, the control magnet 26 with the wire rod 19 arranged in the central part thereof is composed of a plurality of respectively independently controlled magnet units 30, 31 concentrically arranged around the wire rod 19. |
