PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a focus detectable area by making plural photoelectric transducers being light receiving parts and having consecutive two-dimensional extents the constitution respectively performing accumulation controls in respective divided areas independently. SOLUTION: Plural photoelectric transducers being light receiving parts and having consecutive two-dimensional extents are made to be the constitution respectively performing accumulation controls in respective divided areas independently. An image pickup device divides an area sensor receiving two luminous fluxes having a prescribed parallax from a subject to be photographed and having a consecutive extent into plural areas and detects that accumulation control signals reach a prescribed level every divided area and starts the reading of respective pixels of respective areas. This focus detector is constituted of a photoelectric transducer 11 having a silver salt-contg. film 2, a semitransmission main mirror 3, reflection mirrors 4, 6, 10, an IR cutting filter 7, a second order image formation system and two area sensors 11-1, 11-2 or the like. |
