<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify waveform processing and to measure a body without contact including the forward and reverse moving directions of the body. SOLUTION: In order to measure the relative movement of a body without contact, the space pattern having the wide space frequency of the band as the optical irregularities of the surface of the body is brought into contact with a differential type simple detector. Two optical elements 4 and 5 respond to the optical difference generated at the boundary of the edges of the body, replace the reflecting amount of the optical difference and output the one cycle of sine-wave signals S1 and S2 having the bandwidths determined by the width dimensions of the optical elements 4 and 5. The signals S1 and S2 outputted to a differential type single detector F have one-cycle sine waveform. Therefore, it is not required to perform waveform processing. The size of the body is measured with a wave heights Vh of the sine wave signals S1 and S2 , and the moving direction of the body is measured with the + output and the -output of the signals S1 and S2 , respectively.</p> |
