PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separately translate an idiom corresponding to the difference of relation with a related phrase without increasing the capacitance of a basic dictionary by registering idiom information required for translation joining the idiom itself and the related phrase, which appears together with the idiom and affects the translation of the idiom, and reflecting translation processing with that information. SOLUTION: At a translation part 1, a converting part 11 converts an English sentence to Japanese words while using a conversion dictionary 12 and based on the converted result, a generation part 13 determines the Japanese words to be generated by using a generation dictionary 14, conjugation style and the order of these words. An idiom register table 3 registers the index of the idiom, the translation of the idiom, the index of the related phrase which appears together with the idiom in the sentence and affects the translation of the idiom, the translation of the related phrase, and the whole translation of the idiom and the related phrase. An idiom information reflection part 5 reflects the translation processing due to the translation part 1 with the idiom information registered in the idiom register table 3. |
