PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having excellent running property by using a plastic film having specific resiliency expressed by stiffness and specific film thickness as a support. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer is formed on one surface of the plastic film having <=6×10<-3> N/μm<2> stiffness per 1μm thickness and 3.0-4.5μm thickness by vacuum film-forming method and a back coat layer is formed on the opposite surface of the magnetic layer on the film. As a result, the magnetic recording medium capable of keeping excellent running property is obtained by giving the adequate stiffness to the whole magnetic recording medium without using an aramid or the like, which is higher in stiffness, but extremely expensive.
