PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range finder for a camera which reduces the parallax of a range finding sensor to a focus target in a viewfinder generated depending upon a subject distance and shortens the time needed to calculate the subject distance as compared with a conventional time to obtain precise range finding data as a camera range finding device which is equipped with a viewfinder that is provided with an optical path without passing a photographic lens and has a focus target of fixed size at its center part. SOLUTION: An element (data area) which determines a standard area for a standard sensor array by using a rough subject distance obtained from an active range finding part 5 is selected and the focus target at the subject distance is matched with a range finding area to correct parallax. A passive range finding part 6 calculates correlation between two images formed on the selected element of the standard sensor array and a reference-side sensor array to obtain a subject distance. |
