PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation system in which VICS information having closer relationship to the traveling of a host vehicle can be selected and received automatically. SOLUTION: Linear distance to a host vehicle M is operated based on the current positional data of the host vehicle and the positional information of a plurality of information base stations 31, 32. Even if the field strength of a remote main information base station 31 is stronger, the convenient information base station 32 having a shorter linear distance is selected and VICS information is received therefrom. Alternatively, even if the field strength of a main information base station located rearward in the advancing direction is stronger, the convenient information base station 31 located forward in the advancing direction is selected and VICS information is received from the convenient information base station 32. Furthermore, a road passing through an information base station is selected preferentially at the time of searching a guide course even if a shortest course can not be attained. |
