The fastening, especially for a ski boot, consists of a feeler (2) which provides at least local support for the sole of the boot. A jaw (7) can be pivoted between locking and releasing positions. A housing (6) holds the jaw and is connected to a base (3), and a primary return mechanism. The return mechanism is located at least partially inside the housing and incorporates a spring (8) and a locking member (9) to hold the jaw in position against the boot. It also connects the jaw to an intermediate element which occupies a balanced position when the jaw is locked against the boot and is moved by the jaw with a given effort when the jaw is turned away from its locked position.
