The fastener (2) is urged against the outside of the tube at a given distance (a) from the two pipe clamping positions, and then the sections of tubing in between the clamping positions are slid towards the fastener in the tube length direction. The deformed section of tubing encloses parts of the fastener, which are then anchored inside the bead material. Independent claims are also included for (a) the device used to fit the accessory, and (b) an assembly comprising the pipe and fitted accessory.
