MULTI-MODAL TELEPHONE SET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-modal telephone set in which the user easily makes voice dialing and easily uses its function. SOLUTION: This multi-modal telephone set uses both a visual display and a synthesized voice to urge the user to make entry. The telephone set receives the entry of the user through a key pad 18 and programmable software keys relating to a liquid crystal display device(LCD) and receives the entry in terms of a command spoken by the user. A voice module includes two stages of voice recognition devices that model the voice of the user on high similarity basis. An interactive manager relating to the voice module keeps the synchronization the visual and oral systems. The interactive manager manages a state machine that records context of interaction. The voice recognition device uses the context of interaction to select object words recognized to be proper for a currently used context.
