PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the carrying route of transfer paper at the time of transferring an image to both sides thereof by applying the constitution that a toner image corresponding to the mirror image of an image to be formed on the reverse side of the transfer paper is temporarily transferred, for example, to an intermediate transfer body such as a transfer belt. SOLUTION: A toner image corresponding to the mirror image of an image to be formed on the reverse side of transfer paper is temporarily transferred to a transfer belt 44 as an intermediate transfer body, thereby simplifying a process for carrying the transfer paper. At the same time, a carrying distance for the toner image, or the peripheral length of the transfer belt 33 is shortened, compared with the conventionally required carrying distance for transferring an image to both sides of the transfer paper. thereby shortening a time required for transferring an image to both sides of the paper. |
