A noise barrier intended for installation as a traffic separator or at the edge of a roadway and for similar uses is formed by a series of prefabricated barrier sections (10). Each section (10) comprises a pair of spaced, monolithic side walls (12) solid with each other and formed of conglomerate material, which together define an internal cavity (16) which extends over substantially the entire height of the section (10) and which is intended to be filled with fertile soil or equivalent material (26). Each of the side walls (12) has a plurality of apertures (18) through which plants (CP, HP) rooted in the material (26) which fills the cavity (16) can project from the wall (12). |
