PURPOSE:To enable rewriting even if an inter-element distance fluctuates by reading the same information to the preceding laser element and the succeeding laser element, calculating the time difference between the elements and writing fresh information after the prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:The ID part information of the magneto-optical disk 1 is read into the preceding and succeeding laser elements 41, 42 respectively by reading means 81, 82 and the time difference DELTAT therebetween is computed by a computing means 83 regardless of the distance between the elements 41 and 42. The information is then read successively into the element 41 by a reading means 91. In succession, a deciding means 92 decides whether the old information and the fresh information are the same or not and whether the direction to be magnetized is '1' or '0' before the element 42 comes into contact with the bits of the above-mentioned information with a DELTAT delay. Then, the element 42 is subjected to strong irradiation if the fresh information is '1' and to weak irradiation if '0' when the element 42 comes into contact with the above- mentioned bits and if two sets of the information are different. The writing is thus executed. |
