The ring spinning or twisting machine possesses a suction device which acts on the yarn-guide devices (3) and thus removes dust and fibre scuff. The suction lines are designed as cooling-air channels 19 which at the same time dissipate the waste heat from the spindle-shaft motors 8. The cooling air is collected in a collecting channel and is discharged outwards by means of a cooling-air connection from the spinning or twisting machine, from where it is fed directly to the air-conditioning system of the spinning room. This system can thereby be made substantially smaller and simpler.
