<p>A brake monitoring system (20) generally includes a plurality of brake monitors mounted on each of a plurality of brake actuators (26). Each brake monitor generally comprises a sleeve (64) mounted to a push rod (50) which moves relative to a stone shield (56) on the brake actuator (26). The displacement of the sleeve (64) relative to the stone shield (56) is measured to determine the stroke of the brake actuator (26). This information is sent via an RF transmitter (63) to a controller (28) which determines the condition of each of the brakes.</p> |
