The connection unit includes a telecommunication connection (100) which is used to connect a connection box (70) on the user side to a remote connection box (75). The connection is a hard-wired connection with a predetermined bandwidth Bsl which is smaller than the bandwidth Bis of an ISDN interface unit (30). A bandwidth reduction unit is allocated to each connection box. Preferably the ISDN interface unit includes at least two data channels and one control channel.
