A subminiature coaxial connector (100) including a matched impedance plug (106) and jack (103) for coupling printed circuit boards (101, 102), RF modules, coaxial cables and the like, and minimizing RF signal losses and/or degradations. The plug (106) and jack (103) each comprises a coaxial structure including an outer tubular conductor (150, 110) and a center contact (158, 126) held in place by a dielectric sleeve (160, 130) within the outer tubular conductor (150, 110). The geometries of these elements are such that when the plug (106) and jack (103) are fully joined, the elements are coextensive and butt-mated, without steps, gaps or other discontinuities.
