<p>Apparatus for sorting objects (10) into destination containers arranged along one or both sides of a continuous conveyer belt apparatus comprising means (26) to raise and lower appropriate portions of the belt (11) at times and locations to cause objects (12) to fall into appropriate destination containers, optionally including means (31, 32) to blow air on said objects in coordination with the elevation of the belt. A method for sorting said objects comprising placing objects (12) on such a conveyer belt (11), determining which object is to be sorted into which destination container, and elevating appropriate portions of the belt, optionally while blowing air on the object to be sorted, causing the objects to fall of the side and into the appropriate container, is also disclosed.</p> |
