Goods container transfer station

The transport system moves packages or containers (2) over a pair of magnetic tracks (3). There is a loop of overhead monorail (4) near the end of the pair of magnetic tracks, with long sections running parallel to and above the magnetic tracks. This loop of monorail may be used for storage and sorting of containers loaded onto the trains. The loading and unloading station incorporates a portal crane running at right-angles to the magnetic tracks, a conventional railway line (8) and a road (9). There is a ground storage area (6) between the road and the railway line.
