The invention concerns the use of water-soluble or water-dispersible cross-linked nitrogenated compounds obtained by crosslinking (a) compounds containing at least three NH groups with (b) at least bifunctional crosslinking agents which react with NH groups, in washing and cleaning agents, in particular as soil-release agents. Preferably, the compounds (a) are selected from the group comprising oligo- and polyamines, polyalkylene polyamines, polyamidoamines, polyamidoamines grafted with (poly)ethyleneimine and mixtures thereof.
