Vice for holding workpieces

The vice has a main body (1) in which a threaded spindle (2) can rotate. The spindle has a right-hand external thread (3) on a first section and a left-hand external thread (4) on a second section. On each section, sliding jaws (5,6) are mounted which can move in the axial direction of the spindle and which are prevented from rotating. Rotation of the spindle translates into axial movement of the sliding jaws. Between the jaws, a fixed central jaw (7) is mounted against which the sliding jaws can press. A removable coupling unit (10) is provided by means of which the two parts of the spindle (2a,b) can be joined together without contra-rotation.
