The invention relates to a wire stripper for sheathed electrical cables (K), comprising two pincer arms (1, 2) which can swing towards each other in opposite direction to a return spring around a common pivotal axis (3) having cable-sectioning cutting edges (4, 5) and cutting blades (6, 7) with gripping jaws (8, 9) assigned thereto for stripping cables. The cable-sectioning cutting edges (4, 5) and the cutting blades (6, 7) together with the assigned gripping jaws (8, 9) are set apart from each other, are parallel to each other and are arranged on the common pincer opening and closing plane running perpendicular to the pivotal axis (3).
