FERRULE COMPONENT OF OPTICAL CONNECTOR AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING OPTICAL CONNECTOR USING THE COMPONENT

A ferrule component of an optical connector which is produced efficiently because of the short polishing time and whose reliability of connection is improved. The front end face (2) of the ferrule component (1) is constituted by a flat surface (16) which is vertical to the center axis of an optical fiber insertion hole (3) and a slope surface (15). A step (17) is formed at the upper end of the slope surface (15) and the flat surface (16) protrudes forward by the distance of the step (17) from the slope surface (15). The optical fiber insertion hole (3) is open to the slope surface (16) and pin fitting holes (4) for connector connection are disposed on both sides of this optical fiber insertion hole (3).
