Gasifier for carbonaceous and ash-bearing fuels and waste materials

A plant for obtaining useful products from carbon and ash-containing fuels, residues and waste materials by high-temperature gasification has a reaction chamber whose inner surface is formed partly by a lining of refractory materials, and partly by cooling coils welded together to form a gas-tight structure. The coils are provided on the reaction chamber side with pins and a thin covering of a thermally conductive ceramic material, and are cooled using water under pressure either above or below the boiling point. The plant is of the fluidised or fixed bed reactor type, in which gasification is carried out with an oxygen-bearing oxidation medium at temperatures above the melting point of the inorganic constituents and at pressures between atmospheric pressure and 60 bar (preferably between atmospheric pressure and 30 bar).
