The helicopter rotor vibration absorber comprises a drive (10) and a rigid flange (6) mounted on a structure. An absorbing assembly connects the drive and the rigid flange to absorb vibrations perpendicular to the principal axis. The absorber assembly comprises a hydraulic absorber located in a viscous fluid cavity (3) and a flexible coupling (1) having an increased stiffness parallel to the principal axis and a weak stiffness perpendicular to the principal axis. The hydraulic absorber comprises two plane strips (40,50) each of which has its plane perpendicular to the principal axis. The first assembly is mounted on the drive by a connection (42). The second assembly is mounted on the rigid element by a second connection (60).
